IR Cut Filter

An IR cut filter is an optical component primarily designed to allow high transmission of visible light (400-700nm) while blocking infrared light above 700nm. It is achieved through precision optical coating or special materials (such as blue glass), utilizing principles of light interference or absorption. This prevents infrared light from interfering with image sensors (e.g., CMOS/CCD), thereby avoiding color distortion in images (such as color bias, red tinting, etc.) and ensuring accurate and true-to-life imaging colors. It is commonly found in devices such as smartphone cameras, security surveillance cameras, and digital cameras. Some models also feature day-night switching functionality, allowing the filter to be removed at night to utilize infrared light for night vision imaging.
