The Dove Prism has the following characteristics:
1. Image rotation function: When the prism is rotated by an angle θ around the optical axis, the output image will rotate by 2θ. It can realize image rotation at any angle and is applicable to scenarios such as image correction and scanning systems.
2. Unchanged beam direction: It only changes the orientation of the image while keeping the propagation direction of the light beam unchanged, making it suitable for applications requiring stable optical path direction.
3. Sensitivity to incident angle: It has high requirements for the incident angle of incoming light. Slight eccentricity or angular deviation may cause aberration, thus precise alignment is required.
4. Simple structure: It is generally made of glass or quartz with a trapezoidal cross-section. The optical path is controlled through a single total internal reflection or coated reflection inside, featuring a relatively simple structure.
5. Specific applicable scenarios: It is commonly used in image rotation, optical scanning, laser processing, optical gyroscopes and other fields, yet it is not suitable for fixed optical path refraction or scenarios with extremely high stability requirements.
