Roof Prism

A Roof Prism is a special type of optical prism characterized by two mutually perpendicular reflective surfaces inside the prism, resembling a 'roof' structure. Its primary function is to correct the orientation of an image while changing the direction of light propagation through two reflections, achieving upright imaging while keeping the optical axis in the same plane. Roof prisms are commonly used in compact optical systems such as binoculars and periscopes. They can fold the light path and correct images within limited space, offering advantages of small size and compact structure. However, they require high manufacturing precision and assembly standards.
