PBS Cube

A Polarizing Beam Splitter Cube (PBS Cube) is a core component in optical systems, primarily consisting of two right-angle prisms bonded together, with one prism's hypotenuse coated with a polarization beam-splitting film. Its core function is to separate incident unpolarized or mixed polarized light into two linearly polarized beams with orthogonal polarization directions: p-polarized light (electric vector vibration direction parallel to the plane of incidence) is transmitted with minimal loss and travels straight along the original optical path; s-polarized light (electric vector vibration direction perpendicular to the plane of incidence) is efficiently reflected, exiting at a 90° angle relative to the p-light. The PBS Cube offers advantages such as high extinction ratio, low insertion loss, and structural stability. It is widely used in laser projection, fiber optic communication, quantum optics, and precision optical measurement fields, serving as a key device for manipulating light polarization states and achieving optical path splitting and combining.
